Unbox the Room
WHAT IS UNBOX THE ROOM?
Unbox the Room is a zen simulation game where you unpack boxes and arrange personal belongings across a series of living spaces set between 1997 and 2018. Each move follows an unseen woman through another stage of her life, with changing possessions quietly revealing her interests, relationships, ambitions, and milestones. Books can be placed on shelves, kitchenware belongs around the kitchen, and clothing can be organized inside drawers or wardrobes, while incorrect placements are highlighted during the completion check. With no timers, scores, or meters creating pressure, the experience focuses on observation, organization, and environmental storytelling. Open the next box, study the room, and find the right home for every belonging!
HOW TO PLAY
Open The Boxes: Click a package to reveal and pick up one of the belongings inside.
Study The Room: Look around the available space and decide where the current object logically belongs.
Place Each Item: Move the cursor to your chosen location and click again to set the object down.
Check Your Arrangement: Incorrectly positioned belongings glow red during the completion check and need to be moved.
Finish The Space: Find suitable locations for the remaining objects to complete the current room.
Follow The Story: Pay attention to possessions that appear, change, or disappear as you move through different stages of the character's life.

Find A Logical Home For Every Object
You have freedom to arrange belongings creatively, but individual items still follow logical placement rules. Books fit naturally on shelves, kitchenware needs to stay around the kitchen, and clothing belongs in drawers or wardrobes. When the completion check highlights an object in red, you know its current position is incorrect and can search for a more appropriate location before finishing the room.
Notice The Small Details Around Each Space
Audio and visual details help make unpacking feel more tactile. Ceramic objects clink, books land with thuds, and clothing produces soft rustling sounds, with belongings providing their own responses as you handle them. Small decorations also help the rooms feel naturally lived-in, while the gentle feedback supports the relaxed atmosphere throughout the organizing process.
Follow A Life Through Changing Rooms
The moving phases span from 1997 to 2018, beginning with a childhood bedroom before progressing through university spaces, shared apartments, and later homes with new responsibilities. Instead of using conventional dialogue, the story develops through the character's belongings and surroundings. Hobbies, career interests, relationships, and personal changes can be reflected in what appears in each home, while objects that disappear between moves can provide additional clues about how her life is changing.
